Excuse me...

I've just been watching TV.

And the people on TV have been saying things like, "You look absolutely amazing today. Dinner will be ready shortly. Take a seat while you wait. And will you like a glass of wine while you wait."

Do real people really talk like that in real life, in America?

Geez! How do they survive being so polite all the time? And speaking in grammatically correct sentences AND complete sentences too?

No wonder they drink so much alcohol. They want to be rendered senseless and comatose, so nobody will expect them to talk too much.

Is this how TV represents people in the USA? Wow, I don't know which shows you've been watching! I'm accustomed to shows with slightly more 'colourful' language! I mean, Gordon Ramsey's show is called 'The F Word', go figure! Though the BBFC works differently than its American counterpart, whereas the Americans have guidelines as to what is and isn't accepted, and what will determine the certificate of a film, Britain just watches it and slaps the first (or second) number that comes into their head onto the case in white copy and in a red circle! I find it very hard to believe they actully finish their sentences though, if everybody finished they're sentences we'd al
